When I was a child, I was always creating; never happy unless my hands were dirty... glue, paint... mud. I came to love clay again after spending many years as a florist. Turning 40, and with the support of my husband and family, I found the confidence to follow my heart. I was fortunate to cross paths with good teachers and other potters who have helped me on this adventure.
My inspiration comes from the calm serenity of nature: cool and calm colors, soft flowing forms... newly sprouted plant life, sleepy bugs, chunks of bones, sticks and stones... spring peepers, the earliest greeters of the awakening Earth.
The full moon of April is known to some Native Americans as the Frog Moon, after which the cold, quiet winter gives way to the enveloping warmth of the spring sun. The sounds and smells of the Earth change, bringing renewal and rebirth.
My head and heart are full of pots of waiting to be made, all steps along a path.
